Sorry, I am not familar with network gateways and router, the only thing I
know is that I close any firewalls on both server and client side and when
I
ping the server, no response,is that the router's problem?

Additionally, be aware of gateways and f/w on the way , which prevent

hi, I developed a basic network program, including server and client.
The
problem is that the client can not reach the server in a different
network
segment, when I use gethostbyaddr(), it returned WSANO_DATA 11004
Valid name, no data record of requested type.
Maybe a DNS problem ?
From the client, can you ping the server IP address ?
From the client, can you ping the server host name ?
how can I connect through different network segments using windows
socket?
.
