Hello Mark!
I have some efficiency boards on my network that occasionally loose
their network connection. It is a real pain to have to go to the
production floor every time they get this problem and reboot the
device. Is there a method to reboot a device like this over the
network, remotely?
You may use
shutdown -r -f -m \\computername
Of cause the computer must be able to retrieve the command over the network,
so the question is what "occasionally loose their network connection" meens
exacly. If only specific services are not available, shutdown may succeed.
But if the computer it totally unreachable (e.g. the cable has been plugged
out or the Adapter has been disabled), the shutdown command will also not
work.
