Use sniffer to check what happen on the wire, maybe NIC ( driver ) somehow
blocked, so data didn't arrive to the system and reboot ( or drivrer's
start/stop) help in this case

I have some apps that do interprocess communication. We set up sockets
between various threads. These applications have worked fine on Windows
2000
and on Windows XP boxes. However I am now being told on some of the
latest
XP boxes the application times out. I checked and the firewall was turned
off (but if on there are entries for the apps to grant them access).
Any ideas on what I might check on the machine that is currently
exhibitting
this problem? I have been told that some users re-installed and this
worked
(this seemed very bizarre to me... but I tried it to no avail). I suspect
some setting has changed and is allowing the two previous users to run
now.
But they swear they didn't do anything but install and older version of
the
tool. Which I tried to no-avail.
Like I said any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
