The network sniffer will not work for you. Maybe a tight firewall
would help you here when your client will try to open the port!!! just
a hack;-)
Or just write a simple server for all possible ports and on other
side use your client to probe. Sounds wired too! but thats what i can
offer , wait for other folks with better solution.
