Hi henrik,
Are your two computers in the same domain or same workgroup?
If they are in the same domain, please try adding the client machine's
logon domain user to the local administrators group on your remote machine.
If they are in the same workgroup, please try creating a same user account
with the same password on your remote machine and assign it to local
administrators group.
Then try again to see if this issue persists.
I have two computers which are in the same domain. The remote performance
counters can be added into either of the computer. My current Windows logon
account is a domain user account which has administrator permission on both
of the computers.
For your network access issue, you may first check if you can use UNC to
access the related folder, or you may create a dedicated user for the test.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or
concerns.
Best regards,
Charles Wang

where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
