Hi,
My understanding of your issue is that:
You would like to know if WZC on XP or ACM on Vista supports for
associating with an AP using 802.11 shared key authentication.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

Yes, both WZC and ACM support for shared key authentication, however it is
strongly discouraged because it provides weak security for your wireless
network. To configure shared key authencation, select No authentication
(Open) here and then select Shared from the Security tab in the properties
of the wireless network.
