Re: native wifi api / MAC address

You can ask that additionally on
microsoft.public.windows.networking.wireless.

But one question: did you check BSSIDs with OIDscope from ndistools (
http://www.pcausa.com/Utilities/ndistools.htm )
I mean what OID_802_11_BSSID_LIST return ( that both BSSID and SSID for
each )

TIA

Hi:

I am using .NET wrappers around the native WiFI API to detect wireless
access points.
However I need to differentiate between different physical access
points. I planned on using MAC address of the access points, but in
organization where the app will be deployed there are many access
points with the same SSID and SAME MAC (MAC cloning), so even though
the wifi API gives me a list of different access points, all have the
same MAC and SSID.

How do I programmatically identify/differentiate between the items in
that list of access points (so in the future when I see that access
point again, I know it is a "known access point"). Internally windows
differentiates between different physical access points as they appear
as different items on the list. Any ideas how I can do the same?

Any pointers would be appreciated!
