Is there a ideal size for packet sending through internet?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Experts,

I am checking on is there a ideal size that should be used when sending
data through the internet, I know that for ethernet, the MTU is 1500
bytes, but will there be a ideal size that one can put in mind on the
internet which can improve the transmission efficiency.

Thank you for reading this post.

Best Regards
Ferdinand
