Sounds suspiciously like your laptop is using 802.11b
instead of 802.11g. I'm sorry, I can't help you much with
troubleshooting, this is a programming group after all. You
may want to bring this up in a more focused group:
microsoft.public.windows.networking.wireless

I have just checked the speed of my wirless connection. My desktop is
connecting at 48mbps but my wifes laptop says only 11mbps. I cant
remember what they were when everything was working fine but surely
both machines should receive at the same rate? Could there be any
setting on the laptop which says along the lines of 'Do not allow a
rate of signal more than 11mbps'
.
