I have recently installed Visual Studio .NET Professional and the Windows 2000 DDK.

In attempting to test the DDK installation, I get the error, "MSDEVDIR environment variable
not recognized. MS Visual C++ 5.0 or 6.0 must be installed."

Great... Am I correct in assuming that now that I've spent top dollar buying the latest and greatest
Microsoft development environment, I must go buy a copy of an obsolete version of MS C++ in
order to write device drivers? Is there a "downgrade" path available for VS.NET? Any suggestions?

T.I.A. for any advice,

Rob---
