Previous to this I was discussing with Mr. Chris and we have had
enough of discussion, I would like you to go and read those. The post

I will also write to u about the various methods i tried in my next
post. I hope after reading the previous post's discussion with Mr.
Chris you will get lot of idea about my problem.
Bob's just trying to help out with what he has discovered, don't shoot him
down.
I finally got my Audigy card working Vista and I'm getting a similar
result. I can see all the playback (speaker) volume controls in the
control panel however I can't enumerate them in code. I can locate the
other components such as bass and treble, mute and master volume. I will
look into this some more now that I can reproduce it.
Chris, can you see them in Mixer Browser or MixList? The big
difference I find in Vista is that every source is now a separate
device, so old code that enumerates everything in, for example, the
default wave out device will only see what would have been the first
line under prior Windows versions. This seems to be an extension of
what happened with XP: Prior to that, each sound card was a device,
and output and input were separate destinations on that device that
had their own sources under them. XP changed that, so that output and
input (on the same card) were shown as separate devices. Vista goes
one step farther and makes more things into separate devices.
All this shows up immediately with Mixer Browser or MixList (or
anything else that shows *everything* in the system). That's what I
have been trying to explain to Vinaykabadi.
