thing -- that's what I was originally testing, I've disabled all the
other audio devices, but waveInGetNumDevs/waveInGetDevCaps still show
this 'mp4mic' device as showing up.
I think that's what I'm going to have to do -- I could try uninstalling
LiveMeeting and see what that gets me, but I don't want to have to tell
end users to do that if I can avoid it.
Googling for 'mp4mic' gets one hit (other than random character
matches), and it's just someone's dxdiag logs. Googlegroups gets one
hit, which is my first post in this thread.. :)
Although your not actually using DirectSound try the enumerator sample from
my site. There's a pre-compiled version here (or following link below to
compile yourself):

Probably your best bet at this point is to leave it be and work around the
issue by ignoring the device.
