Hi all!

WIA provides a way to snap and download a picture easily with
IWiaItem::DeviceCommand(...). However, there doesn't seem to be any way
to
control any of the camera settings for taking a picture.

Is anyone aware of any machanisms to control the camera settings? I'm
after
controlling zoom; our app should be able to acquire a person image via
WIA,
and the zoom setting should be controllable for this.
The ideal situation would be having a permanent zoom setting which the
camera could be controlled to before snapping the picture.

The camera I now have for testing is a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. I know that
the Canon apps for this camera can handle remote shooting better, but for
our application using thise apps would result in a very clumsy solution.

Any pointers on the subject would be much appreciated!

If you're willing to stick to Canon they have an SDK that can control most
of the functions, WIA is just too limited.

I think you want the CD-SDK 7.3 - their versioning is confusing.

Thanks for the reply! The Canon SDK is not really an option, since we don't
want to be manufacturer dependent with our camera support.

I just can't get it why Canon hasn't provided a way of adjusting zoom in
their WIA driver... Canon's apps (Remote Shooting in case) is way too
clumsy, if not plain stupid to be used in our application.

Thanks again,
