It works fine on my Windows XP but when I try running it on Windows 98 (or
even Windows 95) it starts acting up with this "high" paramters. (It works
fine if I lower it down to 1 channel, 8bit, 8.0kHz)

Is there any way to determine if a sound device supports certain
input/output quality?

I have a little widget here

www.ivrforbeginners.com/Downloads/vc/waveenum.zip

which should be able to give you that information.

Will
