Re: Volume Serial No

AFAIK the Serial Num is a hangover
from DOS decade to be aware of a disk
change,...

To get this data either use WMI, DeviceIoControl,
or GetVolumeInformation to request this information,...

When windows formats a disk it gives a volume serial number to that disk
or
to a partition. What is the logic or method of assigning volume serial
number
to the disk or to the partition ?
Kind regards.
