Hi Norman,
If you replaced the motherboard by exactly the same model of motherboard,
and the change in CPU is no problem but the change in motherboard settings
is a problem, then boot into the BIOS setup screens and change the settings
to match the old motherboard's settings.
Fact is, that i dont know what the old settings are, because the mainboard
was dead, totally dead,...:-) and if you read my first post and follow ups,
you will know that this system is a fully stranger to me and i had to
recover
all information step-by-step, because they placed the case in front of me
and said "help, the pc cant be turned on any longer,...do something". I am
not responsible for that system, i just had to recover and repair it.
Believe me
i had the same thoughts, but it does not work. I tried any possible config
that made sense (and no sense, you newer know!) to start the os. At some
point i stopped and i dont have that much time to spend on the system. I
will
run a repair install and so the OS should rebuild its registry driver keys.
If its
works, this is what i think, ok,...if not, the drives have been backed up on
external storages and the drives a physically in a good condition again, so
they can be removed easily into a running system. Thats what i can tell so
far:
Data recoverd and backed-up. Period!
It sounds like the present Windows installation doesn't have AHCI drivers,
so the old motherboard probably had BIOS settings to use SATA instead of
AHCI.
I cant confirm that, because i dont know the old conditions and settings,
but i can tell you that the HDD Device Interface is IDE/ATA, no SATA anwhere
and what the current OS AHCI Driver belongs, i dont know, whether there is
some or not. Sure i can have a look at the HKLM\CCS001\Services\* to see
what will be loaded/executed but i dont want to bother any longer on this,
before i
get the original OS CD,...
I wonder here that MS did not prepared for situations like this, so that
the os tries to load generic drivers if some special drivers fail at this
early
stage,...
Thanks for your suggestion,...
Regards
K.
