Cloning the format.com

I am working on an image presentation system that ingests images from
memory cards. I need to give the user the option to "format" the
memory card once the images are copied to the computer. There should
not be any more prompted once the user checks the box to format the
memory card (which happens before copying the images).

Volodymyr did point me to a thread from a month ago (http://
groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.win32.programmer.kernel/msg/
fa7118ec3c74de68) were he mentioned that it might be possible to clone
the format.com utility. Has anyone ever done things? If not, does
anyone know what I need to learn to implement it myself?
