Re: trouble decoding managed call stack causing kernel complaint

Hi Ben ,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, SOS.dll is designed for user-mode debugging.

Thank you for pointing out the WPARAM for the WM_PAINT message, it seems
that I overlooked it the first time.

Is it possible for you to provide a little sample project to reproduce this
problem? Then, we may help you to perform some local debugging over it.

Also, by discussing with other experts in Microsoft, we found one similiar
bug, which is fixed in later Longhorn builds. Also seems to be talking
about the bug being annoying debug spew but not necessarily harmful.

Anyway, I will wait for your sample project, thanks.

Best regards,
Jeffrey Tan

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
