I'm not sure that tools show what assembly has created/launched a thread.
All handles (and thread handle) belong to a process and not to an assembly.
If you find a tool which can identify the assembly that has started a
particular thread, I'm very interested.

a lot's of threads.

Hi Reg,

try the Microsoft Process Explorer or Process Monitor. They will
show you the Thread Count and Extra Information like Call Stack, etc.
If you talk about .NET Assemblies, also there you ill get good
information
on the .NET Tab of the Process Properties...

You can also use performance counters already available on your system.
