Re: How to get imagebase after a DLL gets loaded

You routinely give unsuspecting posters the rope that they will use to hang
themselves and their customers, clients or users....

You should read NG on more regular basis - if you do it, you will
notice that these days
I practically never advise "unsupported" things (in fact, quite often I
even try my best to discourage them)...

The problem is that, as Don explained to me, most people who ask
questions are newbies who would be unable to use them properly. It just
took me some time to realize it. The best thing I've ever seen was " I
want to hook the kernel, but I have no experience in C"...

Therefore, these days I think twice before advising "unsupported" stuff
- as you have properly poinred out, these tricks are quite dodgy, so
that newbies are very unlikely to implement them properly

and it is my habits which are poor?

Well, my statement is based upon your actions on this thread - you
advised rather inefficient thing, and justified it by saying that
efficiency just does not matter in this particular situation. I would
accept your approach if it gave you some advantage in terms
of code simplicity, but it does not simplify anything. Furthermore, you
went length in defending your view, providing [imprecise] quotation of
Knuth's statements about
"optimization, which, in 95% of cases, is mother of all evil", trying
to justify your approach
What am I supposed to say about your programming habits under these
circumstances????

As I said, you never cease to disappoint.

Sorry again.....

Certainly, you can do things the way you like, but you
should not advise other people to do the same - if your
programming habits are poor, it does not necessarily mean that you
should advertize them as something usefull...

You routinely give unsuspecting posters the rope that they will use to hang
themselves and their customers, clients or users and it is my habits which
are poor? Yeah, right! As I said, you never cease to disappoint.
