Hi Hector!
with this R2 version.
On your CDs there is only the x64 version!
What's important is that I must get this PCI card with it 32 bit only
drivers to work so all I am trying go figure out if I can install
the 32 bit version of 2003 from these R2 two CD version and
support the card on this CPU or this PCI card will not work on
this Genuine Intel Dual Core P4 64 bit AMD64 clone (called EM64T) CPU.
You need to contant your dealer, so they can change the x64 edition to
an x86 edition...
and you say the PCI card 32 bit kernel drivers should work fine then on this
x64 CPU once it has a 32 bit OS?
Pondering the ignorance, but I guess I am lost of what makes a CPU 64
bit!!?? The OS or the motherboard? Both? Are all Intel Pentium D 900x
series CPU 64 bit ready?
I ask because on another machine with XP/SP1 installed, with a Intel Pentium
Dual Core, the system type says x86 based (via SystemInfo.exe), I took CD1
from this R2 x64 Edition package and it successfully booted up to begin a
installation of Windows 2003 Standard Server. It loaded all its base
drivers. It got all the way to the hit ENTER to being installation, F3 to
QUIT.
So it seems the R2 x64 Edition is both 32 bit and 64 bit ready.
But what you are saying it that it will automatically install the version
for the hardware only, hence I must get the x86 version only? right?
Thanks
