How to reboot a computer immediately by programming?

What I mean by "reboot a computer immediately by programming" is
equivalent to pressing the RESET button on the front panel of your
computer.

I figure there is no way to do this in user mode. However, I believe
there must be a way to do this in kernel mode. But, I don't know how to
do this.

Who can tell me the correct ways?
