When Matt Pietrek and John Robbins went from Nu-Mega ( Compuware bought it )
the question of SoftIce's death was only question of time.
I was with SoftIce in old days of DOS when yet DesqView OS was Windows
competitive
and even when John Robbins in his book "Debugging Applications for Microsoft
..NET and Microsoft Windows" wrote about pluses
of SoftIce that not sound very convinced, unless one thing which I really
didn't use. He wrote that for applications used time delays, SoftIce,which
stop timer ( as other interrupts) , suits better. And I can add :for
debugging PCMCIA card drivers in some exotic places ...
