you're correct, our setup should be a bit nicer. Running setup as admin does
not help, as it also installs some user-specific data (which would be admin,
not the local user in that case). And - unfortunately - as I experience a
lot, we're not the only one with such a problem. Only a few apps that I
install at home (as plain user) run after setup as Admin (RunAs), they all
seem to need more, either Registry entries for the current user, or access
rights to a special directory, often the app's path (sigh!).
We need some entries in HKLM and HKCR for COM objects, but also need
user-specific data. This is why we need to install as user, but with
(temporary) Admin rights...
