The people on TTLG Forums don't think so ;-) There's a huge 'System
Shock 1 on WinXP' FAQ. It works for about 60% of cases, but the
remaining 40% of SS1 fans are cursing NTVDM unto the ninth circle of
Hell...

TBH, I could just modify the SS1 code itself. I've run it through IDA
Pro and I think I can replace the port I/O and lower-numbered
interrupts with easily-hookable alternatives. But it'd be nicer if I
could produce a general solution to the problem of DOS audio under
WinXP.

Whether or not this project is doomed to failure, it's still fun to
poke around in WinXP's guts. The worst I can do is crash the test
machine horribly, and it's not like I have any important data on it.
