I'm not sure if this is the right news-group, however I'havent
found anything related to NTFS, so I write here.
I have found a strange behavior:
When I right click a JPEG file and watch the file properties, I can
see file creation date, last modification date and last access time date.
I'm not sure if "modification date" works as expected (at least as I expect
[i.e show the _last_ time when the file has was modified])
When I use a program like a Photoshop to edit jpeg file, the
"modification date" shows the correct date of modification (after saving
changes). However, when I rotate the image with the built-in WinXP Image Viever,
the property does not reflect the recent image change: it shows
previous {image changing date}. Is it possible to modify a file
in a way that would allow to bypass {some filesystem layer}, causing
this property not to be updated ?
I used also some .NET API (FileInfo.LastWriteTime) to get last
modification date, and it returned the very same thig as explorer did.
The only thing I noticed that changes are file attributes.
After rotation with WinXP Image Viewer, the "archive" attribute is removed.
So, is this behavior normal, that the "Last Write Time" property does not
have to be always updated upon file modification, or is this just a bug?
Thanks In Advance

Note:
If You try to follow the steps described, use WinXP Image Viewer first.
If this is used as second application just after some other software,
the "modified date" would be already set by the previos program
to the expected today-date. Hovever, this will not be the effect of
the XP Image Viever (but it should)
(explorer displays modification date with single-day precison)
Thanks
