GDI+ jpeg compression

Hello,
        Does the GDI+ compression support greyscaled input compression, that
is 8bpp? I ask this because libjpeg has support for 2 colorspaces
24bpp(full color) and 8bpp(greyscaled). I want to know if GDI+ internally
handles the 8bpp bmp as 8bpp or Does it transform to a full color 24-bpp and
then apply the compression?
