Re: How PowerDVD works fine with Mpeg2 Video Duration ?

Dear All,

I have made wonderful Tutorial videos for my expensive Software (in WMV
format).
If I separately distribute those video files, with my software CDs.
My competitors, simulating the features and logics easily.

So, if I embed video files in the main application exe...
Only the genuine buyers can view those videos and rate of simulation
could be lesser.
This is because I am protecting the exe with dongle.

Please let me know, if it is possible to embed compressed video formats
(wmv, mov, rm)
into the VB6 resource file (I know avi, is possible, but it is heavy).

Some code snippet would be appreciated.

i am really happy to see ur reply...

just now i am expolring ur filters for the mpeg2 files what i have in
my bank.

few files which were giving zero duration with (Elecard, Ligos,MS
Mpeg2Splitter) are giving correct duration with ur mpegsplitter.ax
but some files giving over duration and the seeking bar starts from 70%
always.
(Correct duration=4Mins, but with ur mpegsplitter.ax showing 33Mins
and seeking bar starts from 28Mins approx.)

and few files showing under duration (Correct=7 mins and showing 2.45
mins)

why can't u guru's deal this issue in a dufferent approch.
like how Mpeg2Cut.exe, PowerDVD, WinDVD do... some thing dinamic maths
with bitrate,filesize etc.

i am having confidence that it is possible to make an universal filter
to correct the duration and seeking issues for mpeg2/vob files.

the ulead splitter filter works great for almost all the files. but we
have to ask our client to install Ulead DVD Player, which is
unnecessary and we promote other product instead of ours'

i tried my best to make with that filter alone, which is not working at
all.
more over licensing also may be a problem.

if your interested to help me in this issue, i would be really thankful
to you, and
i can send you few sample files and many clues.

Mpeg2Cut is releasing the source code, from where one can get the
logic.
www.Womble.com has Mpeg2-VCR which show correct duration for all files.
and it corrects while
cutting the bad files.

pls. give me some solution atleast to correct the duration issue with
any input files.
(small command line tool, where input file is passed and it gives the
corrected output file.)
which can be an alternate solution for time being.

pls. help me...

I can do any thing for you to fix the problems.

first of all i need a space to put the heavy sized Mpeg2/VOB files in
the web.
I have only 20MB space in my site
Yahoo Briefcase can accept only 5 MB at a time.
if you have a space or suggest some alternate, i can upload few sample
mpeg2 files which behave differently with each other in
duration/seeking.

is it possible for u to communicate with me in person at my email ID?

shows the duration 100% correct for all formated mpeg2 files
It is a hobbiest software...

www.Womble.com Mpeg2-VCR rework the mpeg2 files on the fly to correct
this issue...
I have many examples with me...

logically it is very much possible to make a workaround. only lacking
with me is deep knowledge
in directshow and C++
which is 100% there with you....
so pls. help me...

And I have few video related issues for which i couldn't find practical
solution so far.
1. When I play mixed formated video clips from a play list, i get black
frames in between
each clips.
GMFBridge from http://www.gdcl.co.uk/index.htm declare the solution to
this
but as a VB6 coder, I could'nt use it.
so i need to freeze the last frame on the videoRenderer till the new
clip is rendered.
i need some C++ dll to do this in VB6.

2. how to use VMR9 in VB6 (VMR9 wrapper dll) and change the param of
VMR9 from VB6.
