Lads,
As the person who asked the initial question which spurred on the ensuing
inquest, I've noticed that of the 13 replies in this thread, only a small
percentage actually pertain to my question.
I really don't want to get involved in the (new) issue that sidetracked my
question, but I have to say that I don't think anyone reading this thread
would find it worthwhile or beneficial.
You (MVP) seem to have taken an unnecessarily acute interest in Enze's
filters, which, in my opinion, go far beyond what an inveterate poster's
legitimate interest should be. I'm not trying to defend anyone, but I don't
see the same level of interrogation being applied to anyone else.
I have discussed the legal aspects of disclosing private information with
Enze, and he has acknowledged his mistake. We all make them, and in
fairness, he has apologized for it. For me, that matter is now closed.
You also seem to take offense at Enze recommending his commerical product
in this newsgroup. Please read the following excerpt from the "Rules of
Conduct" for this site:
"Advertising/Solicitation: These communities were created as a forum for
providing peer-to-peer assistance on Microsoft products and services. We
ask that you refrain from posting advertisements or solicitations that do
not pertain directly to the intended use and purpose of the newsgroup or
chat."
As far as I can see, his product does indeed pertain directly to this
newgroup, and, as such, he has every right to advertise it. And getting
back to the original issue I had, Enze's filters are the ONLY solution
which has been recommended. Nobody else has been able to provide positive,
encouraging feedback, and, at the end of the day, that's what really
matters.
People like me use this newsgroup and thousands like it every day because
we need help. We don't need bickering and one-upmanship. We need answers.
So please put aside your differences for the good of the community.
Joe
