How to use secondary display (video output) using DirectX?

Hi,

How can I use the analog (rca) video ouput
of video display cards using Directx? I would
like to be able to show some images to the TV using the
secondary display in video output mode similarly
as the DVD decoding application do. Is it possible
to show something in the video output even when my
application would be in minimized or hidden mode
i.e. so that the user does not actually see the
application on the primary monitor.
