Hi Darren,
That capture sound sample is the best you are probably going to find -
unless you find a class where some one else has done the work for you
and abstracted it further (if you find it let me know ;-)
Most of the complexity in the sample comes from the fact it is trying
to cater for multiple buffer formats etc. If for instance you stick to
a single format and either mono or stereo, the rest of the calculations
can also be further simplified to there actual values.
