Can't play audio files - Intelligent Connect problem?

Hello,

I have a strange problem. I recently installed a new video card
(NVidia FX 5500) and ever since I have been unable to play either
MP3 files or hear the audio in WMV video files.

If I try to create a graph to play a WMV video in GraphEdit,
GraphEdit will automatically connect the video out pin to
a WMV Video Decoder DMO and then to a Video Renderer, but it
is unable to render the audio pin. I am, however, able to
manually insert the WMV Audio Decoder DMO filter and connect it to
the audio out pin. I can then insert the Default Directsound
Device and connect it to the output of the Audio Decoder, and
then the movie plays fine, sound and all.

Similarly, I can manually construct the filtergraph for an MP3
file in GraphEdit and play the file, but I can't play the file
in Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic.

All of the pieces are there, so I don't think I'm missing any
DLLs. I'm guessing that the filter database (if that's even
the correct term) was corrupted somehow - so Intelligent Connect
isn't able to figure out to connect the WMV file audio pin to the
WMV audio decoder and then to the Audio Renderer. Does anyone
know how I can fix this? I've tried reinstalling Windows Media
Player but that doesn't seem to help. I've also tried
reinstalling the drivers for my sound card - no help either.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
