Re: usb doesn't work on bootloader on vmware

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

You can report this issue and ask for help on the VMware forums.

Also, check that your USB drive is high speed (aka 2.0) capable.
Workstation 6.0 had some strange issues when the "virtual hardware"
is set to newest version (EHCI emulation) and devices are 1.0,
or v.v. (a VM created with Workstation 5.x and a device is high speed).
Not sure whether it is fixed in v. 6.5 and Server/Player 2.x.

/* IMHO, quality of the Workstation 6.x "extras" is quickly
going south - I don't understand why.
I could not get many features to work well (even after using
their support) and likely won't buy more Workstation copies and upgrades */

I said that the bootloader works
well on some real computers but it doesn't work on vmware .
I wonder what's the differents between usb port on vmware and usb port on
real machine .
The differences are quite significant. The USB ports in a VMware virtual
machine are all faked. VMware supplies something that looks and feels like
a USB port, and forwards some requests to the real USB ports.

What version of VMware are you using? Until relatively recently, VMware
could not supply USB 2.0 -- only USB 1.x.
