probably b/c teh host controllers are off the shelf parts. also, the usb 2.0 and usb 1.1 host controllers can control the same port depending on what type of device is plugged into the port

My notebook can see 4 USB portsbut why can I see 7 USB controlloers and hubs
in Device Manager USB group ? Are three of them not open to users ?
