Re: Disable Device is persisted, but where?

Hi Jeff,

This is very helpful.

The device is a Conexant based Zoom PCI ADSL modem. They state on their site the device will NOT be supported on Vista.

Q: So why not just buy a new modem? A: Because I'm interested in what Vista is doing differently to previous o/s.

The device has three entries and drivers in the device tree. Using the 32bit drivers from 2000/XP, the first two "hardware" devices load correctly and the third "software" device fails, but if I disable, then re-enable the "software" device it starts working.

If you think you can help me understand what's going on, I could post the full technical details of this device and it's drivers.

My best guess is that it's something to do with the load order of the drivers, but I can't imagine why it would be different on Vista.

Gerry,

Can you tell me more about the device scenario you are troubleshooting? Perhaps I can assist with the troubleshooting.
