Hi Eliyas,

State information is kept in the registry. Why do you care?
The reason I care is that the DDK implies the ....\CurrentControlSet\Enum\... tree is "volatile" and created on the fly at startup. Obviously if that were true it could not persist across a reboot.
Anyway, I'm interested to know if you're a Microsoft employee responding to this in the context of managed newsgroups? If so, I'm not happy with the rude way you responded.

On Vista, if I go to Device Manager and disable a device, then reboot, the device is _still_ disabled. My question is where is this config change persisted? (e.g. in the registry or FileSystem)
I guess it will initially write the change to the volatile area in the registry CurrentControlSet\Enum\..., but it does not appear to write the change to the related keys under the hardware profile area of the registry. I therefore don't understand how it can persist across a reboot?
