I'm afraid I just got my own answer in the Edirol FAQ :
Compatible Host Controller Chips
The following list of compatible host controller chips have been tested to
work with USB audio:
* Intel 82371AB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
* Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
* Intel 82371SB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
* Intel 82801AA PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
* Intel 82440MX PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
* Intel 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2442
* Intel 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2444
* Intel 82801CA/CAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2482
* Intel 82801CA/CAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2484
* Intel 82801CA/CAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2487
* ALi PCI to USB Open Host Controller
* VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller
* Lucent Technologies PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
If you do not have a compatible USB Host Controller, there is an option
other than replacing your mother board. ADS Technologies makes the USB Turbo
Quad 4 PCI card that offers 4 full bandwidth USB ports that are known to be
compatible with USB audio.
....
(NOTE: If you're running a laptop and need an add-on card for compatibility,
please contact Edirol sales or support for further information.)
THUS : I guess I can put my laptop in the bin, or use it for powerpoint :)

Hi all,
I got a brand new laptop (Toshiba M40 / Win XP SP2) I want to use with an
USB EDIROL UA-25.
The problem is I get some drops (mostly very short clicks) in audio while
playing, whatever the application (Quicktime, MediaPlayer, Winamp, ...).
Did someone actually fixed this issue ?
- BIOS update ?
- USB windows layer update ?
- Is there somewhere in registry where I can change any parameter (buffer
size, latency, ...)
CPU seems not to be faulty, as it stays more or less between 0 and 10%.
Thanks for any advice.
