Encrypt the data and sell the reader via internet only.

The only drawback is that the complete rendering has to be done in the
reader program. No use of Media player or IE for rendering.
HTML renderer are easily available, but watch out for the licensing.
Most of them are GPL. Using such a source could result in someone
sueing the publisher into bankruptcy.
This closes most attack routes. It is still possible though to hook the
Windows APIs like DrawText, TextOut etc.
Yet this is good enough to make copying the data no problem anymore.
It would be cheaper to have it rekeyed by a typing service from India.
