Wrong neswgroup. Please repost in microsoft.public.windows.networking.wireless and microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware
( a guess... WinXP driver should work on 2003 SP1. E-mail Intel support and describe in details why you could not connect.
Also specify exact model of the laptop. Large manufacturers may have their own custom version of Intel drivers ).
