various power management related issues

Hi,

This is probably not the best place to ask and maybe someone can point me to
better place but i think people reading this newsgroup
should be at least able to give me pointers for my next research...

I have couple of issues that i am trying to track down and i am not really
sure what should be my next step so i will try to explain
what i am trying to track down :)

Problem 1 : On windows 2003 sp1 standard when a hdd goes to sleep mode (20
minutes idle setting in power management) the system is not
able to wake it up, when accessed the system hangs waiting for something to
happen, on the same computer with same drivers with windows xp sp2 the hdd
wakes up without problems. The hardware is msi nforce4 mobo with amd64 cpu.
My question is if this can be OS problem or driver problem ? Is the driver
responsible for waking the drive or is it some standard IDE subsystem doing
this ?

Problem 2 : Same computer windows xp sp2, when using hibernate the system
sometimes fails to resume, it loads the memory from file but
ends up in black screen with nothing happening... My question is... How can
i find some info about what is going on... Anything that could help
me trackdown the problem, debug output, some way to debug the state etc...

Problem 3 : As usually same computer windows xp sp2/windows 2003 sp1
standard. On MS Mouse Explorer 4 USB after resuming from hibernate
mousewheel doesnt work. Mouse is detected correctly even in this state (when
removed from device manager), buttons work etc but mouse wheel and the tilt
function doesnt react. When the mouse is unplugged from USB and replugged
all works fine again. My question is again what can i do to track down the
problem, i tried drivers from MS (intellipoint latest) and even default
driver... can this be BIOS/motherboard issue ?

Problem 4 (and last one...) : Same box, my external USB CDMA modem
(emulating COM port) doesnt work anymore after coming back from hibernate,
the modem has its own power cable so its always turned on even if the box is
off. I think this is driver issue. My question is can i just edit something
in the .inf file that would make windows to somehow reset the modem after
resuming from hibernate ? Again modem works when i replug it in USB...

As i said, this is not the right place to ask because i am not developing
anything, but i hope someone will answer :)

thanks a lot
Ivan
