Now I'm really confused you spend the large number of $$$ for SoftIce when
you can spend less money and buy a good quality test bed independent of the
development system. If you want to use WinDBG you need two systems, and
WinDBG is the best debugger for kernel work nowadays.
It can also save development time with two systems. If you are like many
developers I know there is a period of a lot of little bugs, so you
constantly rebooting the test system. If you use a single system this is a
reboot, then fix then debug etc. If it is a boot time driver, it is reboot
in to a profile without the driver, fix the bug, reboot into a profile with
the driver, debug, etc. With two systems the reboot can occur while the bug
is being fixed on the development system.
