I suggest that you uninstall both versions of the XMLA SDK and re-install
just XMLA 1.1 and then see what happens.

Also, please make sure that you have installed MSXML 4.0 and PTS on the
machine... I would also recommend verifying that you can connect to the
Analysis Server using MDX Sample on that machine.

The KB article you refer to does not apply here. It only occurs when an
error occurs during serialization of column/cell values which is not the
case here.
