If you're not using the new features (like MARS, Query Notifications,
Failover Partner, etc) SQLOLEDB is just fine. There's a bit of difference in
handling of XML and MAX data types, but these are new too.

Do I need the new Native Client, or can I use the 2.8 sp1 OLE DB provider
for
SQL Server to connect to SQL 2005? I have read that certain new features
won't be available, but we have not used any in our existing application.
We'd prefer not to upgrade the drivers on all client PCs if we can be
reasonably sure our existing apps won't break with MDAC 2.8 sp1 and SQL
2005.
