I am using Microsoft ODBC connection.

I never could get the MS Oracle driver to work quite right. I would suggest
using the Oracle supplied driver. This may produce the results your looking
for. As for why TOAD can see them, if I am not mistaken, TOAD uses native
Oracle drivers (SQL*Net) not ODBC.
