Traffic Overhead of ODBC

Hello,

we use the microsoft ODBC driver for oracle. Since our database has migrated to another location connected via a fast VPN, the connection via ODBC has become very slow. It is 60 times slower then a direct sql select statement.

Does odbc generate that much traffic compared to a simple sql ?
