can ODBC Handle tables with more than 500 fields?

Hi,
I m using the ODBC for connecting with an progress database. if a table
contain more than 500 fields/ columns in it then i get an error saying :

[HY000] [data direct] [ODBC Progress driver] [PROGRESS] table contains more
than the maximum columns currently supported . (9233)

Is there any fixes/patches available to overcome this issue of accesing the
table's with more than 500 fields in it. please help.

Thanks,
Ramprasad.
