By creating a .pjx a .dbc and using the connection manager I ended up
with a connection string
DSN=dBASE Files;DBQ=C:\PROGRAM
FILES\GOLDMINE\COMMON;DefaultDir=C:\PROGRAM
FILES\GOLDMINE\COMMON;DriverId=533;MaxBufferSize=2048;PageTimeout=5;
later changed to point to the demo directory versus the common
directory.
Then I went to VFP's File / New / View / Wizard, navigated to GoldMine
Contact1.dbf said NO to removal of dBase soft carriage returns from
memo fields, did not design any filters or sorts, saved local view
FGLV_Contact1and was able to Browse Contact1.dbf
This is some small progress.
Do I have to set up a Remote View for each and every dBase .dbf table
in the target directory in order to work with each table?
Also, while in the VFP Browse of the Remote View, it appeard to let me
change data, e.g. add my middle name to my contact name field but when
I closed out of VFP and fired up Goldmine there was no change in my
name, just Firstname Lastname.
Apparently my progress does not include the ability to edit data.
GoldMine has an API which I think people use to update info for some
sort of synchronization reason.
