I am trying to use a DNS alias name of SQL server to connect to SQL Server. KB Article 818510 indicates there were some problems with MDAC 2.7 SP1 and
2.6 that may prevent DNS names from working reliably.
Does anyone know for sure if this has been fixed in MDAC 2.8 or above?
We want to use the DNS name of the Server so that if the SQL database
location needs to change later (another server) we can simply change DNS
alias.
