List of SYSTEM ODBC sources is invisible

A few times I have created a new SYSTEM data source, however after I create,
it does not show up in the list of datasources. If check the registry I can
see the data source listed there and if I try to create it again manually I
get prompted to overwrite it. I have some apps where I can write in the
ODBC source name (rather than pick from the list) and these all work as
well.

I am logged in as Administrator and I have logged in as most any other user
and I just cannot see the items in the list. What could be the problem?

Windows XP SP2
