Some articles mentions this, but I think they were outdated. I am still
looking for this answer and I came across references like this..

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/fox7help/html/dggrfoledbproviderforvisualfoxpro.asp

and this

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q165/4/92.ASP&NoWebContent=1

and some others that mention the mdac2.5 comes with vfpoledb drivers. mdac
2.6 and above do NOT scome with the driver.

I really need to know what port oledb uses to connect. I am used to sql
server. This is tiring. I need to access this data thru a pix so I need to
know what minimal communications I need to allow. Being in a 'protected
area', you only want minimum connectivity necessary to complete the task. I
can allow file sharing but that defeates the purpose of the
firewall/dmz/protected setup.

There is a cisco2600 first, then theres a web server in the dmz, then a pix
506e behind that and a sql box behind that.

I got everything working except web>sql box. (the sql box also contains the
foxpro db. The inhouse billing software I am interfacing is an inbetween
version that uses BOTH sql server and foxpro. They rolled out an incomplete
version, and I am an outside consultant brought in to interface the existing
software and provide a web interface version of the billing system. I can
access the sql no problem because oledb lets you specify an IP/port combo. I
only have to open one port on one ip into the protected side for sql. But
fox pro is like access, you need a file location (i.e.
c:\directory\dbfile.dbf) and that makes problems.

any other workarounds you could suggest would be great.
